Holy week Worship schedule

Maundy Thursday ~ March 28

Maundy Thursday begins The Triduum, The Great Three Days, remembering Jesus’ Last Supper with the disciples, the agony in the garden of Gethsemane, and Jesus’ journey to the cross and crucifixion.  You are invited to St. John’s for a meal and worship, “The Solemn Liturgy of Maundy Thursday.” At this celebration of Holy Communion, we commemorate the institution of the Last Supper and the tradition of the Mandatum novum (New Commandment). The service includes footwashing(optional) and the stripping of the altar.  This year we are adding an Altar of Repose, where the consecrated communion elements will be placed at the end of the service.

Good Friday ~ March 29

On this most solemn of days marking Jesus’ suffering, crucifixion and death, walk with Jesus following the Way of the Cross.  Three opportunities are provided:  - Noon – All Saints in Battlement Mesa

Please join us for an outdoor service (weather permitting) walking the Stations of the Cross.  You will need good walking shoes, water and sunscreen as we walk the fourteen stations.  You will be invited to read at one of the stations.  The service ends with singing “Were you there?” around the altar table.  There is also a beautiful outdoor labyrinth to walk if you would like more contemplation on this Holy Day.

- 6pm – St. John’s in New Castle

Another opportunity to worship on Good Friday, walking the Stations of the Cross.  This service is indoors and you will be invited to read at one of the stations.

- 7pm – Ecumenical Worship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glenwood Springs

We will gather with our Lutheran and Methodist neighbors for a special combined service.

Holy Saturday, March 30

A quiet day of expectant waiting …

Please join us for these special services, all are welcome!

Welcome to St. Barnabas Episcopal

We strive to be a Christ-centered, Spirit-guided community of diverse people working through active ministries to serve the world. Our mission is to know, love and serve Christ through selfless and sacred service in the church, the community and the world.

In the first century, Jesus started a movement simply called “the way.”  As part of the Episcopal Church in Garfield County and the national Episcopal Church, we are committed to the Jesus Movement by living the “way of love” out into the world. We are a work-in-progress and together we are on a mission to grow in faith and better learn to love God, love neighbor, and love self so that all creation thrives. Please join us!

Upcoming Events on Zoom: Please email revprkim@gmail.com for more information.

Loving, Liberating and Life-giving God

Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please join us either online or in person at 10am Sunday mornings. Call the church office for details. All are welcome! Almighty God, in giving us dominion over things on earth, you made us fellow workers in your creation: Give us wisdom and reverence so to use the resources of nature, that no one may suffer from our abuse of them, and that generations yet to come may continue to praise you for your bounty; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
